36-Week In-Person Painting Course | Norfolk

The Artist Development Diploma is a structured art course designed to help you move beyond short classes and into a confident, consistent artistic practice.

Across the year you will strengthen technical painting skills, explore a range of subjects, and develop a recognisable personal style while building a cohesive body of work. Teaching combines demonstrations, practical projects and individual feedback, with optional exhibition opportunities.

By the end of the course you will not only have improved your skills, but also a clear direction as an artist and the confidence to present and share your work.

What you will study

You will work across subjects including landscape, seascape, portrait, figure and still life.

Skills covered include composition, colour harmony, light and value, glazing, mark making and surface handling, alongside learning from historical and contemporary artists.

The course follows a demonstration-then-project format, helping you move from learning techniques to using them independently in your own work.

Day: Thursdays (term time with breaks that follow the Norfolk County Council calendar)
Time: 10.30am – 3.00pm

Entry requirements

Suitable for learners with a basic grounding in painting from beginner classes or personal practice. This is not a complete beginner course. If you are unsure about your level, you can request a friendly appraisal before booking.

Course fee: £3,000

Payment plan: 6 monthly payments of £500. Please note - the full fee must be paid before the start of the course. We understand that circumstances can change so if, for any reason, you change your mind before the end of the payment plan you will be repaid your instalments.

Cancellation may be made with a full refund up until 31/07/2026 for any reason. Cancellation made after that may attract a refund but is at the discretion of The Art Academy or if we are able to fill the cancelled place.
